Previously, the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) was available to commercial entities through 2032, but due to the tax reforms of 2025, that timeline has been reduced significantly. Commercial solar projects placed in service by the end of 2027 will still qualify for the ITC. Without safe harboring, this shortened timeline means to successfully navigate your solar project’s multi-month process, it’s best to get any evaluation started this year to give you the most time to easily meet these new deadlines. Bonus Depreciation Availability
For a business, a renewable energy system is a capital asset. The permanent reinstatement of 100% bonus depreciation allows businesses to immediately deduct the total eligible cost of their solar equipment upfront in the very first year it is placed in service instead of over a multi-year span.
This means for any projects completed and placed in service in 2027, you could receive both the ITC and bonus depreciation, maximizing the savings and ROI on your project. - Summer 2026 : Have conversations with the commercial team at All Energy Solar and receive a proposal for your intended project(s).
- Fall 2026: Initiate your intended project(s) and allow our team to begin the important permit and utility interconnection application steps, gaining all necessary approvals for proceeding with construction.
- Winter 2027: Utility applications are approved for project(s) and our team moves forward with equipment procurement and planning for your installation
- Spring/Summer 2027: Your project work is ready for installation, safely ahead of the end of 2027 ITC qualification deadline.
