The State of New Hampshire is incentivizing commercial and industrial properties to install solar energy systems. Through various Grants and rebates, savings are available for New Hampshire businesses that want to make the switch to solar energy.
New Hampshire’s Commercial and Industrial Solar Program offers $0.20 per watt for new solar electric facilities for non-residential properties. This incentive does not accept applicants expanding onto existing solar panel systems. The program requires two applications to be submitted, one prior to installation and one after installation is finished.
This incentive is for up to 25 percent of the total project cost or $10,000, whichever is less. The Commercial and Industrial Solar Program is available to non-residential structures with a commercial electric meter in New Hampshire. Solar systems must be 500 kWh or less to apply for this program.
The state also has allowed a Property Tax Exemption for Solar Panel Systems. While this is not a state-wide law, many of New Hampshire’s local governments participate in this tax exemption. So while solar panels increase your property’s value, the property tax will not increase.
The Federal Tax Credit is also available to commercial properties in addition to the state-based incentives. The Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) was extended and increased last year to a 30 percent tax credit on all solar panel systems. There is even the opportunity to increase that amount based on meeting specific requirements set by the federal government.
To receive these incentives, your system must be installed by a certified solar installer. Contact All Energy Solar to receive a FREE solar evaluation for your property from one of our commercial solar experts.
