River Falls Municipal Utilities matches rebates from Focus on Energy for their users who switch to solar in 2023.
Focus on Energy is a Wisconsin organization that has collaborated with local utilities in the state to offer incentives to property owners to reward them for going solar. Currently, residential properties can apply for a $500 rebate from the organization, and properties in designated zip codes can get an additional $500 for installation. Commercial properties can get up to a $50,000 rebate from the Focus on Energy program, with other incentives for multifamily or agricultural properties.
While Focus on Energy is an exceptional program, River Falls Municipal Utilities (RFMU) matches Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy solar incentive of up to $1,000 for their users. This means you can get two rebates when you install solar as an RFMU customer. RFMU requires that you are approved for the Focus on Energy rebate and complete their application. There is no guarantee of knowing if this incentive will be continued in the future, and funding for these incentives is usually limited and operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Acting quickly if you want to take advantage of these offerings is essential.
The Focus on Energy and the additional RFMU incentive offerings can be combined with the federal-based Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC). This program offers a 30 percent tax rebate on solar panel systems to make renewable energy more accessible to property owners.
