The Rochester Public Utilities Conserve & Save® Solar Rebate program makes it more affordable for you to install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system on your home or business.
New installed solar energy systems sized 2.0 kW DC or larger can earn a flat $500 rebate to help pay for costs. Systems need to fully comply with equipment and installation requirements set forth by Rochester Public Utilities.
Customers must agree to an energy audit before installation. Improving the energy efficiency of your home or business is a great use of your energy dollars anyway to make the best use of the electricity your panels produce.
Additionally, customers will sign a net-metering and interconnection contract with Rochester Public Utilities. Net metering is a process by which excess energy is “sold” to your utility and sent back to the grid in exchange for credits that are then added to your electricity bill. During low production or high energy use periods, your property will access energy from the grid using the credits as payment first.
The Rochester Public Utilities solar rebate is available, on a first-come, first-served basis, and can be used in conjunction with the 2022 federal tax credit of 26% for solar energy systems. This is likely the last year to receive the 26 percent rebate before it decreases in 2023 to 22 percent so act soon for solar savings!
