Dakota Electric is bringing back its solar rebate offering for 2023, and federal incentives for solar have increased, making it a great year to go solar.
Dakota Electric has been offering its residential customers rebates for installing solar panels for a few years. Due to the program’s previous success, they have brought it back for another year.
Residential users of Dakota Electric can get a one-time payment of $500 once they have installed a solar (PV) array. The utility requires approval before purchasing and installing the project. Payment will be received once the installation is done. While this is exciting news for 2023, there is no guarantee they will continue this program in the following years.
Currently, All Energy Solar is offering $500 off when you use All Energy Solar for your solar installation if you are a user of Dakota Electric. This is in addition to Dakota Electric’s rebate, meaning a combined total of $1,000 off your solar installation!
Last year, with the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, federal solar incentives were increased to 30 percent for residential installations to assist in making clean energy more accessible. This federal-level incentive can be used with local programs such as Dakota Electric.
While this offering only applies to residential property owners, commercial property owners who want to go solar have other options. MinnPACE is Minnesota’s division of the PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) program. This financing option for businesses that are going solar includes no upfront costs and twice-yearly payments.
