There are changes coming for the Dakota Electric Association Solar Rebate that may influence your decision to choose solar in 2021 versus 2022.
Currently, the offer is a residential solar performance rebate of $.50 per watt of installed capacity up to $4,000. This solar incentive has been paid at $.08 per kWh produced to residential accounts which are not sized to produce in excess of 120% of their annual consumption.
Now with a goal of extending solar incentives to more members and in an effort to move closer to a “time of purchase” rebate model, the solar performance program will be replaced with a $500 residential solar commissioning rebate.
Beginning January 1, 2022, residential systems with a rating at or below 20.0 kW DC will be eligible for a one-time, $500 solar commissioning rebate after the commissioning is complete.
Applications that are signed and received by Dakota Electric on or before December 31, 2021, will still remain eligible for the existing performance rebate. However, your solar project installation and commissioning must be completed by December 1, 2022, to fully qualify.
New rebate forms and updated installation requirements for the solar commissioning rebate will be available online prior to January 1, 2022.
