Shakopee Public Utilities 2024 Solar Rebate

Shakopee Public Utilities will be once again offering its solar rebate program for its customers who make the switch to solar energy.

The initial price tag of solar can seem intimidating to some, but various levels of incentives help to offset the costs associated with installing solar on your home. Taking advantage of incentives such as Shakopee Public Utilities’ flat rate of $500 rebate makes going solar just a little easier.

While rebates are an excellent tool for those making the switch to solar, there are some essential things to consider to ensure you qualify to receive the rebate. First, it is important to note that Shakopee Public Utilities has a limited amount of funding, and this rebate is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, this means that the rebate cannot be guaranteed and for the best chance at receiving it, it is best to act as soon as possible.

Shakopee Public Utilities also requires that the solar system’s total size be greater than 2kW and less than 120 percent of the property’s prior annual usage. There are a few other technical specifications that must be met to ensure you get this rebate. All Energy Solar’s qualified solar professionals are well-versed in this rebate and can work with you and the utility to ensure your solar energy system meets all requirements.

In 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was passed and provides homeowners who go solar with a tax rebate of 30 percent. The Shakopee Public Utilities solar rebate can be used in addition to the federal tax credit to lower the total cost of your solar array.  While this tax credit is currently scheduled to last until 2032, it might be repealed sooner than that. With possible political changes coming in 2024, there is no guarantee that it will stay or remain at the same amount.

There are many things to consider when going solar, especially if you want to save as much as possible while doing so. Luckily, our solar experts are prepared to help you with the entire process.
